Five pills that messed with her head, making her hallucinate. Of course she had the hallucinations without the pills, but they just aided to her problems. Thanks to the president for ordering her to take these to be a mentor, or else she'd end up institutionalized again. Dear god she couldn't handle that for a second time. Being in there for three or four years really screwed with her sanity, as if she wasn't already unstable enough. The games change people and it was their choice whether to rise above it or not, and it was pretty obvious what Lupa chose. She wishes more than anything that she could go back and do things differently, hopefully this time she'd die. If those careers would've killed her when they had the chance she would've been better off, they would've done her such a huge favor. But that spark of revenge kept her alive, being filled with fury made her go absolutely psychotic and since she hasn't been strong enough to contain the beast inside her. Lu still didn't quite understand why the president thought she'd make a good mentor. Sure this was probably her third year mentoring, but still. Why her? She was probably only going to get those kids killed faster, or scare the absolute crap out of them with the way she acts. Lupa knew she was mentally incompetent, she wasn't oblivious to her own insanity. She just couldn't fathom why the president chose her to be a mentor when there were two other victors from her district with the ability to think rationally without having an episode or a panic attack.
The brunette stared at her reflection in the mirror while messing with the dark curls that fell over her shoulder. She hated what she saw: a killer. She was like a zombie, living each day, but not knowing how to deal. Everything just seemed to go in slow motion as she made her way along, and its been like this for years. This girl in front of her, hadn't been the real Lupa Axly for a long time, its almost been ten years. She feared that the Lupa she used to be was never coming back. The only thing she could do now was please the capitol by wearing a fake little smile , strutting around in cutesy little outfits, coach some kids on the games, watch them die, and repeat. Her life was no longer in her control, it was at the mercy of the government and she couldn't stand it. It was up to them if she lived or not, and so far, she played their little games well, so she was being rewarded with keeping her life. She was the only victor that she knew of so far that was placed in psychiatric care.
Lupa smoothed the wrinkles out of the white dress then quickly pulled on the cardigan. Her sandals tapped lightly on the ground as she walked, making a soft pitter-patter down the empty hallway. She had missed the reaping due to taking her designated pill time that she had to follow. She had heard that her new mentee's name was Alethea Pax, and apparently Sar had said she was much like Lupa. Of course Sar would've been there to watch the reaping and let Lupa know what was going on. She was the brunette's lifeline basically, without her she'd probably be institutionalized again. This was kind of making Lu wonder what this girl was like. For once she was actually excited to meet her tribute, and hopefully the feeling was mutual, if not that was fine too. Lu giggled as she trotted her little legs down the hallway. This little child like side of her usually showed through just about as much as the crazy side did, but just because she seemed a little more sane didn't mean it couldn't go as bad. The brunette entered the room at a perky little bounce. She made her way over to the desk and propped herself onto it. She kicked her shoes off and waited patiently for the tribute to come, or at least she hoped she would. Lu was desperately hoping this tribute had at least some chance at winning these games, or at least making some kind of difference in them. If she was anything like Lupa was then of course she'd have a chance, hell Lu was actually hoping this girl would turn out to be exactly like she was during her games, though Lu was only twelve at the time.

"would it be worth it though?" a voice in the back of her mind asked. would winning be worth all the killing and guilt and pain that would come afterwards. there was her family to come back for of course. but she would still have to live knowing 23 other people had died so she could live, and after that she'd be nothing more than a puppet of the capitol. she knew she wouldn't be the same after killing someone, and that was what she was so afraid of. she didn't want the games to turn her into a monster, someone who would kill others just to help themselves. those other tributes had lives and families back in their districts too. they all wanted to go home for one reason or another. she shook her head slightly and sighed. that was no way to think. she had to get back for her family. she had to at least try for them. she couldn't bear the thought of them watching her be killed in the arena, especially her youngest sister. she knew they would be fine in the end. they would survive without her, but she had seen all of those other families who had lost kids. she didn't want hers to become like that. empty and sad, constantly missing their child, brother, or sister. she wanted to see her family more than ever now. but first she had to meet her mentor. alethea looked back up ahead, tucking a lock of hair that had come loose behind her ear. they were nearing a door that she assumed her mentor was behind, and alethea felt her heart start to flutter. she knew she had to make a good impression. her mentor would be her lifeline. her way out of the games alive. they reached the door a few moments later and the peacekeeper released her. alethea let out a breath, and picked up a hand to open the door. her hand was shaking. for a moment, she paused, getting her emotions in check. she needed to be calm. alethea turned her face into an emotionless mask before slowly turning the knob and letting the door swing open. she peered inside to see lupa perched on the desk, her shoes kicked to the side. "hello," she said hesitantly as she stepped slowly into the room. she never took her eyes off her mentor, even as she closed the door behind her. she leaned back against the door, her hands clasped together in front of her, not sure whether she should move closer or not. "i'm alethea pax, the tribute for district three," she said, surprised at how stable her voice was despite how nervous she actually felt. as she gazed at her mentor, she wondered what was running through her head. did lupa think she had any chance at all? would she even try to help her? so many mentors she had seen over the years in the games didn't seem to care if their tributes lived or died at all. she just hoped lupa was different. the thoughts welled into her mind before she realized she was being rude by staring. her eyes found the ground as she bit her lip in apprehension. outfit hairnotes;; i wasn't sure when this was supposed to take place, so i just said before she gets to say goodbye to her family. i hope that's ok! Her gazed was caught by each foot, once the other went up, it'd flick over to the other already down. She closed her eyes for a moment, smiling to herself. This started to bring back memories of her and Akar during the games. They had found a gorgeous river, were well rest and fed, and decided may be appreciating the games beauty was too bad of an idea. Besides they had lost the careers long ago, and it seemed like they were distanced from everyone else. Akar of course wanted to swim in this beautiful pool of water, however Lupa hated it. Sure, it was pretty, but Lupa had never been one that like the water. Akar on the other hand swam around like a water god from District Four. So she'd just sat there and watched him swim, she dangled her long tanned legs in the water, the rest of her body planted firmly on a large rock near where Akar was swimming. She could distinctly remember that devilish little smile he had on his face before her dove under the water. Lu, being the worry wart she was, began to panic after he did not resurface after a few minutes. The next thing she knew, her body was cold and water consumed her. Once she surfaced she began to laugh and splash water at the older male as they had the time of their lives playing the the water for those few hours. Lu blinked back tears as she remember this day. She couldn't believe after ten years she was still hung up on the games, wasn't it time for her to be over this? Her heart said no, agreeing with the memories of the event, but what really was Lupa, locked away in her conscience. somewhere, she was begging to be over the horror. She almost began to whimper, but quickly wiped her eyes as she heard foot steps in the hall. Of course i'd be her tribute, or at least she hoped it was.
It technically wasn't her fault that she missed the reaping, sure she felt bad, but still. She could have met her on the train instead, that way she could also meet the other tribute, and talk with the other district three mentor, since she wasn't too experienced with mentoring. Two years wasn't very long, and it seemed like the president watched over her shoulder the whole time. Lupa ignored the fact that everyone made it seem she needed help. She in fact did not need help, and really she felt it was no ones business. She only needed Sar and Grey to keep her calm, that's it. Peace keepers did not need to be waiting around the clock for her to snap just so they could throw her back into mental care. She was doing better now, and hopefully she'd keep going like this. Although the "schizophrenia" medication wasn't helping, some of the others did, especially for her insomnia. Lu's attention was drawn by the sharp turn of the door. The girl began to grin as the tribute approached, she slowly shut the door behind her. Lupa glanced down for a moment for looking back up. She had introduced herself which made the brunette smile. Lupa hoped off the desk and brushed off her dress before walking up to the girl barefoot and holding out her hand. " Nice to meet you Alethea, i'm Lupa. I'm looking forward to mentoring you." Lu had no idea why she told the girl her name, of course she'd already known her. So she just smiled. She felt bad for the girl, not even being able to say goodbye to her family yet, it must have been hard. Lu could ready the girls face like an open book. Alethea wore the same face as Lupa did when she got reaped. She slowly reached out and put a hand on the side of the girls arm. " I would say everything is going to be fine, but I can't guarantee it. So I will try to help you win to the best of my abilities."
She knew exactly how hard it was to be put in this kind of situation. Lu remained quiet for a moment before speaking again. " I really don't mean to rush into things but I have to ask...Can you tell me any special talents you have that may help you in the arena?" Lupa cocked her head to the side, the same reassuring grin still painted there. She had to remain as clam as she could around Alethea since she didn't want to scare the poor girl before the games even started. Lupa was determined to be the same kind of mentor to this girl that Sar was to her. Sar was willing to give up her whole life so Lupa could win, and Lu was probably going to be the exact same for this girl. She could already tell she was different from the other tributes she ahd worked with so far. The other two cried on end and repeated for hours that they had no chance, it killed Lupa but she sheltered her emotions out once it came time for them to enter the arena. And of course both ended up dying first ten, since neither listened about the blood bath. Lu sighed then pulled her hand away , crossing her arms ,patiently waiting for the girl to respond.
