Tonight was a big night for potential stylists in the Capitol. It was the night where the assignments for stylists to districts were announced. While this wasn't a big event for the Capitol audience (as they cared more about the tributes than the stylists), it was huge for those who had been training and practicing their trade in the hope that they could make it big as a Hunger Games stylist. Luca had been a stylist in the games for the last three years, and last year had styled District 9. The styling had gone well, but his tribute hadn't - she had been killed in the bloodbath. That was the hardest part of being a stylist, becoming attached to the tribute and then watching them die. Tonight he was sitting in his apartment, watching the telecast of the announcement on television, with a glass of wine in his hand.
One hour later, the placements had been announced - Luca was once again assigned to District 9, which was fine with him - he would quite like to move up to a stronger district at some point, but sticking with a district he had some experience with was a good thing as well. The big surprise for him was one of the other names that had come up in the announcement - River Douglas, District Two stylist. He smiled to himself, proud of her. She was his younger sister Livia's friend, they had been in the same year through school, and so Luca and River were acquaintances, more so since River had decided to follow the path of being a stylist. This would be her second or third year as a stylist, and she had held her District Two position. He decided this was definitely worth a congratulations phonecall, as well as an invitation for a drink.
He picked up the phone and dialed her number, waiting for her to pick up. "River! How are you doing? I believe celebrations are in order," he greeted as she picked up.
